Cold Weather Workout Tips

How to Prep Your Garage Gym for Winter

Unlike a conventional gym that has insulation and heat, garage gyms typically don’t so when the cold approaches, it now takes you longer to warm up, your equipment is cold to the touch, and you have to utilize different methods for getting the job done.


Warm Up Inside, Work Out Outside

Just the thought of walking out into a cold garage can be enough to deter us from getting some movement in. And while you could work out inside(see Extra Programs and Daily Workouts above), maybe the workout or Extra Program session that you’re looking forward to tackling requires equipment that can’t be easily moved from the garage. So what can you do to make stepping out into the cold less dreadful? Warm up inside! Members have access to 35+ warm ups that can be done with little to no equipment and in 5-10 minutes. Get that body temperature up inside where it’s nice and cozy, then you’ll beeager to feel some cold air on your skin.


Bundle Up, Shed Layers

There are a few ways tomake your environment and equipment warmer on those blistering winter days, but what about your body?? The answer: Layers! Big and bulky coats and pants work well, but you can also don a few lighter outwear pieces. Then, as your body warms up, you can peel away layer after layer. Zip up hoodies (ahem, Winter Essentials collection) and sweatpants are great for easy shedding. (Pro Tip: wait until after you’ve shimmied out of your sweatpants to tie your shoelaces!) And don’t forget your beanie, ear warmers, gloves, and socks!
